Engineering scope

  • ESP32-based IoT gateway with Power over Ethernet using a W5500 controller
  • Integration of CO₂, gas, temperature, humidity, light and pressure sensors
  • Real-time monitoring for industrial and environmental applications
  • Zigbee connectivity for smart home and automation systems
  • Complete PCB design, schematic and system architecture

Design approach

A gateway that draws power and data down one cable has to fit its own supply, an Ethernet controller and a sensor package onto a single board. The PoE front-end and W5500 section were planned against a shared floorplan alongside the Zigbee radio, keeping the wireless section clear of the switching supply. Sensor placement was treated as a layout problem in its own right — temperature, humidity and CO₂ readings are only as good as their distance from self-heating parts.
